Meerut: Distraught after losing his wife to COVID-19, a sub-inspector from Uttar Pradesh revealed that his wife died due to medical negligence and apathy shown by a government hospital in the state. A video of the sub-inspector narrating his ordeal also went viral on social media.

The sub-inspector’s wife tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to the government hospital on April 20, after she complained of breathing problems. She breathed her last at the facility on April 22. The cop was identified as Bhik Chand.

Posted at Muzaffarnagar, narrated his plight on a camera and claimed that his wife Roopmati died gasping for air. A local recorded the incident and posted it on social media.

‘She was not even given water and eventually died’

The cop alleged that medicines were not provided to his wife. He added that he approached the medical superintendent at least 50 times but to no avail, The Times of India reported. He said, “She was not even given water and eventually died.

‘They did not administer any treatment to my wife’

Chand said, “My wife was killed by the hospital. They did not administer any treatment to my wife. I had complained to the SP (city) who then sent an inspector but we did not get any assistance from the hospital. I will get an FIR registered and take this case to its logical conclusion. “
